Pre-SAT Test Prep.
Get the foundations down in advance of intensive test prep
We take the dark mystery out of standardized testing. Our award-winning test-prep courses
Our Pre-SAT Test Prep course focuses on the foundations of the math and reading portions of the SAT. By starting work on the fundamentals early (in 9th and/or 10th grade or as a rising 9th grader), students have the opportunity to develop competence in foundational math section topics such as percents, fractions, ratios, and reading graphs, and in foundational reading section topics such as parts of speech, vocabulary in context, main points and details of reading passages, and the function of phrases or sentences.
Then as rising juniors/juniors, students are well prepared to enroll in our SAT Small Group Test Prep course. Their preparation work in the Pre-SAT Test Prep course will give them more time to conquer test-taking strategies later rather than being mired down with re-learning foundational concepts.
Unlike with our SAT Small Group Test Prep course, students have the option of enrolling in either the math or reading course or both. In many cases, students have a proclivity for either the math or the reading sections. If a student already demonstrates strong competence in one section and less competence in the other, that student can focus on the section that they find most challenging.
In addition, we group our students based on our proprietary GroupSmart® algorithm (more information below). We find that by grouping students with similar aptitudes and challenges, students are able to thrive in class. While one group may be more focused on building confidence in fundamental topics, another group may be more focused on problem solving speed and in-depth topic coverage.
Please note that our Pre-SAT course is test agnostic. Because we are focusing on foundational concepts, it does not matter whether your student will be taking the current SAT or the new SAT.
The added benefit of our Pre-SAT Test Prep course is an improvement in general academics and schoolwork. The more unconscious competence we can develop in the fundamentals of math and reading, the better the academic outcomes for the student.

GroupSmart®, our secret sauce
After years of test prep and tutoring, we know it’s critical that students feel comfortable in their learning environment. We use our proprietary GroupSmart® algorithm to intelligently group students for our Pre-SAT Test Prep courses. It’s efficient and it’s effective. Students are in class with others of similar strengths and challenges. They confidently ask questions and learn from each other’s queries. No other test prep company does this.
On our registration form, you will select all times your student is available to attend class. Then, you will receive instructions for your student to take an online proctored diagnostic test (a full-length PSAT, depending on the course you choose). About a week before classes start, we create and publish your student’s exact class schedule, which is based on test scores and your student’s availability that you entered at time of registration, as well as other information.
